Newsletter

Welcome...

Well, it looks as though the economy may be improving a bit as our patient load here at the Neuroscience Center has returned to normal levels and some 60+ new members have subscribed to NPO since our last edition. This new membership includes several military bases and VA facilities serving our returning service men and women. Welcome aboard!

System Update...

The next system update, mentioned in our last newsletter, is turning out to be far more complex (but also more comprehensive) than anticipated. Therefore, it will more likely be the Fall before we implement it. The patient records and clinical reports are going to be phenomenal so the final product will be worth the wait.

Subscriber Problems...

Once in a while, we are getting reports that a patient or therapist subscriber is not being recognized by the NPO system. The signs of this problem are 1) patient scores are not being recorded or 2) a patient gets a message that they have already completed a task they have not previously done. We have only had a total of five reports of this but in every case the user was using VISTA and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Changing to the Safari browser from www.apple.com (even for PC users) instantly solves the problem.

Children on NPO...

A number of our provider members have asked about using NPO with children. Here at the Neuroscience Center, we use NPO for higher level, older children who present with attention deficit, learning disabilities or are coming in for a cognitive enrichment experience. For those children that are more impaired and younger we use our Challenging Our Minds system located at www.challenging-our-minds.com.

What’s New...

NPO apps for iPhone and iPod Touch!!!! We have taken a couple of our clinical applications from our Differential Diagnosis section and reprogrammed them to run on iPhone and Touch. And, we will have many more to come. To install the apps on your device, just click the yellow banner on our home page and follow the instructions. You can also go to the same web addresses, provided in the instructions, and run the apps in your web browser. These apps are internet based, so even after you install them, you must have internet access at the time when you run them. I am including some screen grabs here so you can see how they will appear on your iPhone or Touch.  Just go to the Next Page below to see the pics.
